Money Magic

A plant grows from money collected in a glass pot

I wish I could grow money this easily!

Now, I don’t know about you, but I could really use some money magic right about now and, as we are witches, we can absolutely do something about that! Queue the MAGIC!

Let’s take a look at some of the associations for money:

Colours: Green for abundance (and the dollar, if you’re in the USA!), Yellow/Gold for… well, gold!
Day & Planet: Thursday & Jupiter for long lasting abundance, Sunday & Sun for joyful material success
Herbs: Apple for abundance, marigold/calendula for money, Valerian for business success, vervain for focus

There as many ways to build a spell as there are people who wish to cast them! It’s like baking your own special cake - you decide what you like and how it’s going to work for you.

Now, I’m a big kid when it comes to spells. I like them tactile, sensual, colourful and fun. If I enjoy making the spell and put that joy into the work, it really helps me. My money spell needs to be centered around my business, creative energy, community connection, home and abundance, so I’ll be adding in a few herbs, colours and amulets for those things too. I want to be reminded of my spell every day, so I am going to make something I can wear (a bracelet make out of ribbon), as well as something I can have on my altar that I will interact with daily (an oil and a candle).

The Setup

Herbs

Marigold for wealth and attracting community, apple for aundance and knowledge, thyme for courage and good luck, saffron for wealth and happiness, valerian for wealth and influence, vervain for magic and success, chicory to gain patrons

Other Stuff

A yellow candle, purple ribbon, yellow ribbon, charms that represent money (a coin), business (a storefront… perhaps), happiness (the Sun) and abundance (an apple) and some nice olive oil.

The Spell

I will take the herbs and steep them in the olive oil for just over a week - Starting on a Thursday (Jupiter) and ending on a Sunday (Sun). I will perform my spell on a Sunday at Midday, where the Sunlight can touch my altar.

After setting up my space, preferably with purple and yellow altar cloths, I’ll annoint the candle with the oil. As I do this I will focus on the amount of money I need to generate each month. I will visualise it in my bank account and think about the date from which I wish to see it happen. Once this is done I will light the candle and make a bracelet out of the ribbons and charms. I will annoint the ribbons with the oil and pass them over the flame of the candle (not too close or whoomph! Not that that has ever happened to me before, nope, totally pro here!). I will wear the bracelet until it drops off and the spell is complete (that could take a long time with synthetic ribbon, so I may choose a nice thin silk or cotton cord instead… we are practical witches here, after all).

You can keep your spell as simple or make it as complex as you like - whatever feeds your soul! From lighting a yellow candle, to invoking money related deities at the correct hour daily while annointing yourself in oil and rolling yourself in herbs - the choice is yours. Your spell, your purpose, your focus, your magic. So Mote It Be! Now, let’s get to work!
