Spells for Success in 2025
New Year, new YOU! Am I right?!
Every year we make resolutions to help us focus on what we want out of the next solar cycle. What better place to start your journey to a more successful 2025 than at the Winter Solstice. The Sun is at His lowest power and will rise until the Summer Solstice at His peak. We will use this powerful fiery energy to fuel our own growth and success in 2025.
Step 1 - Review the Old
Grab a pen and paper, sit in a nice, quiet spot, light a candle, and, if you’re feeling extra fancy, burn some Solar incense. Take a moment to centre yourself, breathe and release the stress of the mundane.
Once you’re ready, pick up your pen and paper and think back on the year just gone.
Write down what went well for you, what you achieved and what you’re greatful for. Next, write down what didn’t go so well, what you wish you had done and what you regret.
Focus on these aspects of your life and ask yourself if you have acted in alignment with your true self, what obstacles you faced, what successes you had, rate them out of 10 if you’d like. 1 being awful and disconnected from your true self, 10 being 100% amazing and in true harmony with who you are.
Relationships - Family, Friends, Romantic, Community
Health - Self care, fitness, eating habits
Money - Finances, Employment/Own business,
Personal Growth
Spirituality
Step 2 - Imagine the Future
After we have contemplated our past, it’s time to look to the future. Imagine you perfect life - if money was no object, if everything went your way, if you were true and authentically yourself in all ways, what would your life look like?
I know this sound weird, but if you’re having trouble thinking of a direction you wish your life to go - think about those people who you are jealous of. Jealousy is simply our hearts yearning for something we have yet to achieve and can, if recognised as yearning and guided away from bitterness and resentment, can show us what we desire our lives to have in them and what we wish we could become. Write down what it is you admire about this person - what is it they have that you wish to also have?
Write down all your thoughts and feelings about what you wish your life could be. We’re not going to create our perfect life in one go, but if we set our course with small changes and good goals, we’ll get there eventually!
Step 3 - Set your Goals
Now that you’ve identified what you want, it’s time to get to work.
Your goals should aim to be: SMART - Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Timely (I know, ew, business speak, but roll with me here!)
Specific: A clear and unambiguous goal that details what's expected, who's involved, and where it will happen. The clearer you can make the specifics of your goal in your mind, the easier it is to direct energy to that purpose.
Measurable: A goal with specific criteria to measure progress and success. If you don’t know what success looks like, neither will your magic.
Attainable: A goal that's realistic and not impossible to achieve. (Winning the lottery is not an attainable goal, it’s a wish that depends on chance not intent.)
Realistic: A goal that's within reach and relevant to your life purpose. Your goal has to align with your authentic self. It’s no good aiming to buy a mansion if you only have £100 in the bank, but aiming to grow that £100 to £1 million so you can buy a mansion later is ok, if having a mansion aligns with your true purpose.
Timely: A goal with a clearly defined timeline, including a starting date and a target date. Setting a deadline helps the energy stay focused and contained. If we just give everything up to the universe, things are going to peter out or come along when we are 80… We’re busy witches, we don’t have time to dilly dally!
A good goal would be:
“I will make £1000 net a month, after expenses, by selling my own artwork online and by attending at at least one art fair a month. I will start on the 21st December 2024 and I will achieve this by the end of June 2025.”
The £1000 net is specific and measurable, the how is achieveable and realistic within my lifestyle and experience, and the timeline is also measurable and specific.
We are going to be keeping our intentions at the forefront of our minds by writing them down and renewing the magic either daily or weekly, depending on how much time and how much energy you have. We don’t want to go full tilt at it and burn out. Magic is a marathon and not a sprint.
Write down your goals. No more than 6 - the sumber of the Sun.
Step 4 - Witchcraft!
Now that you know what you want and need, it’s time to gather our supplies.
Choose your Spell Level:
Simple:
1 candle for each goal in the colour associated with the goal type.
E.g. Money = green, love = pink, business = royal blue, health = yellow, spiritual = white, creativity = rainbow/yellow (please see my 7 Planets article for a complete breakdown of associations. Look for the Qualities and then the Colour of the Planet and that will tell you what colour you need.)
First thing in the morning (as close to sunrise as you can realisitcally get) set up the candles on our altar. After creating your sacred space, light each candle and recite your goal. Take a moment to really focus on it, why you want to achieve it, what it would feel like to make it happen. Then snuff out the candles one by one. As you do this think of one thing you can do that day to help your goal along. Close your sacred space and don’t forget to do that thing during the day.
Intermediate:
Simple spell steps + 1 herb from the Planetary corrosponance of your goal + base oil of your choice (olive oil, almond oil, etc)
Befire you place the candles on the altar, set up your sacred space. Once within the circle, take each candle in hand and focus on the goal. While speaking it out loud, take the oil and anoint the candle, tip to centre and base to centre. When the candle is anointed roll it in the herb associated with that intention.
Pro tip: Before you begin, put each herb individually on some greaceproof paper on a flat surface - it doesn’t have to be a ton if it, just enough to cling to the candle.
Pro Tip 2: Have some wet wipes or a moist flannel set aside to wipe your hands on when you’re done. Things are going to get MESSY!
Complicated:
Simple + Intermediate + get a ribbon and a charm that represents your goal. Tie or sew the charm onto the ribbon. When you wish to call upon the specific energy of that goal for the day you can carry it with you either in your pocket, wallet or wear it next to your skin however you choose.
Don’t Forget!
Keep topping up the magic, thinking of your goals, and reviewing your own progress as the weeks go on. Magic can help greace the wheels of success but you need to do the pedding on the bike of hard work. Without you DOING things, the magic won’t have anything to push along. So, go forth and create a prosperious 2025!
